Putting Too Much Pressure on the Perfect Christmas

When the 25th of the twelfth month rolls around, there is nothing we want more than when Christmas Day comes around than for it to be a wonderful day full of lots of magical memories. In the last few years, I have always strived for the perfect Christmas. Dreamed of a Christmas surrounded by a large family, sharing gifts, eating together and playing games. A relaxed, fun atmosphere that you just cannot beat. Seeing the family you haven’t seen in months, sharing gifts and stories of Christmas past whilst reading out all the dodgy jokes in crackers and getting a bit competitive when you crack out the Trivia Pursuit. We all know that we shouldn’t base romantic expectations on what we see in the movies, or so they say, so I guess the same can be said for Christmas movies too.

My Favourite Bloggers of 2017

2017 has truly been the year of the blog. This year, more and more bloggers have truly cemented their place in the industry and if you ask me, this has been my favourite year for blogging. Like all good things, there have been some ups and downs (fake followers, bots, declaration) but all-in-all, it has been a wonderful year for the community with bloggers improving left, right and centre. We are seeing boss photography that tells a story, words that captivate and people that inspire. What. A. Year.

Getting Away: Brighton

You may have noticed that Blogmas took an unexpected pause at the end of last week. After posting daily since the very 1st of December, the content came to a stop. It kind of broke my little blogging heart, purely because it was going so well. Every day had fresh content that I was happy with and it was all running very smoothly with my fabulous little organisation schedule working in the background. But then, I got ill. I came down with, quite frankly, the sinus infection from hell. A sore throat, swollen glands, constantly runny nose, a complete lack of energy and worse of all… the worst headache. Constantly. Cold and Flu tablets did a grand job of minimising the more pesky side effects but would not touch the headache at all.

How To Start Your Day Better

I’ve learned the hard way that starting your day at the very first point productive is the main key to help to keep it productive. A poor routine used to lead me to 3 am bedtimes, 11 am wake-up call and lazying about for hours until I physically forced myself to do something. It was never healthy and it never helped with… well, just about anything!

The Christmas Wishlist

After writing up and selecting gifts for my Christmas Gift Guide, I started to think about what I wanted for Christmas this year. My mum is actually pretty good at buying presents that she’ll know I’ll like and it is always nice to have a surprise but I do like to pick out some things that I would like to see under the tree so this year I have asked for the products that have been sitting in my wishlist for a while now!

Getting In The Christmas Spirit

Putting up the Christmas decorations is probably my favourite Christmas activity, other than eating the turkey roast, of course! There is something just so lovely about completely transforming the house into this warm, cosy, softly-lit place that just oozes comfort. For me, our house never looks better than when it does at Christmas. The tree twinkling with it’s white and gold decorations, with fairy lights sparkling all around our living room. The fireplace always looks so much better with the stockings above it, just waiting patiently to be filled on Christmas Eve. Winter themed tealights flickering away as the fire roars, filling the room with much-needed warmth for when we gather to watch A Christmas Carol.
