What I’ve Learnt About Love

The supermarket aisles are full of pink and red, hearts and teddies, flowers and fancy gifts all embossed with those three famous words… be my Valentine?

What I Have Been Thankful For This Month

It doesn’t matter how positive I am trying to be or if the sun is shining or if my Glossier orders arrive early, I’m just not the biggest fan of January. At all. It is cold, rainy, feels as if it is lasting forever and I’m still struggling to control my finances after a very spendy December. It probably doesn’t help that I have another cold (will it ever go?) and I’m currently typing this from my bed with a Beechams Cold and Flu Blackcurrant drink I’m trying to force down. I am very much looking forward to February, we are one step closer to Spring (who else is excited for florals and sun and warmth?!), which in turns mean a little bit closer to Summer and everything just seems a little better when February rolls around, doesn’t it?

Falling back in love with Reading

For me, reading is one of those that I really love to do but rarely find the time for. Which is why, when I spoke of digital detoxing last week, I thought it was the perfect time to get my head stuck into a good book or two. There is something truly magical about transporting yourself into another world through words and your imagination and since I’ve got back into turning the pages, I have really enjoyed immersing myself in all these stories and find myself really making the time to flick through a chapter or two.

How I’m Organising Myself in 2018

Spending some time organising my life is literally one of my favourite ‘life admin’ things to do. There is just no better sense of accomplishment than when you have organised yourself and can actually feel the benefits working in your everyday life. Because of my obsession with having everything ever written down or stored somewhere or other and knowing how easily distracted I can get leading me to forget everything, I’m actually not too shabby when it comes to organising myself and I do find myself actually enjoying the process setting up and filling out my bullet journal, finding uses for the riduclous amount of stationary I own and having a very neat and efficient iCal (if I do say so myself!).

Switching Off and Online Detoxing

I took a week off. A whole week. A whole seven days of not opening up my laptop, letting it gather dust for just a few days whilst I let myself recharge. I just burnt-out with blogging and social media and Instagram posts and scheduling and editing and I needed to step away. It was simple really – I think with the New Year I just started to feel overwhelmed, I hadn’t taken a break over Christmas and had continued writing, photographing, scheduling and all sorts so by the time the first of January had rolled around, I needed to escape a little bit. So, after a day of feeling frustrated after not being able to string a sentence together or take a half-decent photograph, I switched off my laptop, closed the lid, walked away and told myself I wouldn’t open it till I was completely, one hundred percent ready.

Starting The New Year Positive

2018 is well and truly underway, even if, like me, you have no idea how it is already 2018. I have personally never been a fan of New Year or January as a whole, but this, I want to put a positive spin on it and start as I mean to go on. January is the perfect time for a new start but you don’t have to put as much pressure on it as it sounds. The last few years I have got rid of New Year Resolutions and stuck primarily to goals (see mine here) and that already has helped to take off the pressure of the New Year.
