Why I’m ok with not having it all together

Why I’m ok with not having it …

Alongside running this blog, I work part-time in a local pub. The one thing everyone asks me in that pub is ‘what are you going to do now you’ve got your degree?’ And minus a few people, most people don’t understand why a) I’m working in a pub in the first place b) I haven’t got a full-time fancy job in London yet, my own flat and my own independence… three months after receiving my degree. Most of the time, this chat doesn’t bother me, I’m well aware that they are simply making small talk with someone they know nothing about apart from going to university. But recently, I’ve had more people tell me the ‘horrors’ of getting degrees and you may not believe a number of times I’ve been told ‘it’s so hard getting a job with a degree now’ ‘my sisters cousins friend got a degree years ago and still hasn’t got a job’, ‘oooh, bet your in loads of debt now!’, they say with a grin on their face. Most of the time I just laugh and agree, because I’m sure most of is true but I can’t quite fight the niggling thought in my mind of… ‘these people don’t think I have together’. Do these people think I’m wasting my time? Wasting my degree?

What I love About Autumn

Ok, ok, I know…. I’m slightly early to the whole ‘Autumn’ thing but honestly, ever since our two-week Summer ended, I have been secretly (well, not so secretly if you follow me on Twitter) wishing for Autumn to come its merry way. It almost seems a blogger requirement to adore Autumn but for as long as I can remember I have always craved for chilly air, short days and nights surrounded by blankets and fairy lights. I have fond memories of walking around London on beautiful grey days (yes I actually like cloudy days), early morning walks in the Autumn sunshine and cuddling up around the fire with Harry Potter on in the background whilst it rains outside.

Walking Away From What You Don’t Need …

It has taken me years to learn that ultimately, happiness comes from you. You are the creator, the motivator and the teacher of it. My mother always tells me and has always told me throughout my years, that surround yourself with positive things and positive people and it will quite literally breed positivity.

The Summer Holiday Reads

I do not know about you but, I do not read enough. Unlike my mother who can quite literally read a book a day, I never find myself with my head stuck in a book, my mind a million miles away reading someone else’s fantasy world. I can spend hours on Youtube and Netflix but reading is just not something I jump into. But then, I went on holiday. Four hours from home, in beautiful Gran Canaria, you did not catch Georgia or me without a book or our iPads in our hands, reading our latest adventure.

Thoughts on Turning 22

I cannot believe I am writing my birthday post, the last year has whizzed past since I wrote my 21st birthday post about the 21 lessons I have learnt in 21 years and now I am at the official age where I can stick on Taylor Swift’s 22 and finally *relate*. It is actually my birthday today so you will be able to find me on my sofa, hopefully, surrounded by cake, boomeranging the sh*t out of my birthday balloon.

June Favourites

I cannot believe I am writing out my June favourites… how on earth are we in JULY?! I am super excited though, July is looking to be a pretty exciting month. First up we have my birthday where I will be turning the ripe ol’ age of 22 (I can confirm that I will be having the T Swift on repeat all day). It is only a few days away now and I have not really considered any plans, birthdays are always typically a quiet affair, I do not like to go too over the top with them so it will probably be a nice meal out with the family in the evening and perhaps a day-time trip down to Old Leigh which is my favourite place to spend a sunny day.
