Your One Stop Shop For Fashion and Beauty
There's no better feeling than coming home from work, checking your email inbox and seeing an event invite asking if you would like to spend an evening with John Lewis, getting to meet and know some of the beauty and fashion brands in the store. Of course, I said yes. So, last week, I grabbed my camera, a heatwave appropriate outfit and headed to the Chelmsford store.
John Lewis is home to so many lovely brands, many of which you'll already find in my makeup bag. In fact, I have spent many an afternoon browsing their beauty department, trying to pick what lipstick I should take home next.
I was also excited to explore the fashion department and create a wishlist as long as my arm, meet some fellow bloggers and chat about the Instagram algorithm whilst sipping some fizz.
It was such a lovely evening and I was so impressed with what John Lewis has to offer us beauty and fashion fiends (I also majorly got distracted by the stationary section as I walked in...) that I really wanted to write about it. Plus, I had taken waaaaay too many pictures for one Instagram feed.
With prosecco on arrival given by the friendliest team, I was already having a pretty good time. As we entered the Benugo Cafe (serving cocktails, tea, coffee and nibbles - I throughly recommend the fruit scones if your local store has one), we were greeted not only by the beautiful decor (including a flower wall made up entirely of John Lewis branded tissue paper), but several brands set up showing off their best pieces. We were able to walk freely around the brands, browse through some of their ranges and chat all about them with the representative. It was such a lovely and intimate to get to know a brand, their ethos, their pieces and it was so wonderful to learn not only about the brands and products I already adore, but new ones too.
The beauty of John Lewis is in its' brands. It is ultimately the one-stop shop across fashion and beauty. You'll see firm favourites such as Charlotte Tilbury, Urban Decay and MAC grace the beauty department. The wonderful Boden, Claudia Bradby jewellery, Ralph Lauren, Levi's and L.K Bennett are making the fashion department look gorgeous. All of this combined with friendly, informative selling assistants who are passionate about their brand, make shopping at your local JL store so much more than just grabbing your product and heading to the till. It's an experience, one that starts with you.
Opening in September 2016, the Chelmsford store is the first in Essex and what a wonderful addition it is. It's a truly beautiful store and whilst I might be spending all my time in the beauty and fashion departments (I definitely spent way too long eyeing up all the bags in the Mulberry section), there are gorgeous homewares, furnishings, technology and more for you to browse. Finish off with a coffee and cake in the cafe in the cafe. Perfect!
I would like to say a massive thank you to the lovely Jan and Emma for inviting me to their first event! It was so lovely to get a closer look at the Chelmsford store itself and just some of the beauty and fashion brands it sells. It was such a wonderful evening, with informative chats, lovely bloggers and such a friendly team! I got introduced to some new brands and got to chat all my favourites to others. The perfect evening!
To find your local John Lewis store (and all it's goodies), have a ol' gander here and definitely pop in to have a look! Even if it is just for a fruit scone... I won't judge you, in fact, I'll probably be at the next table along eating mine too!
