March Makeup: The Top Three

March Makeup: The Top Three

03.18

I am just going to say it… we are in April. We are literally in the fourth month of the year and honestly, I cannot wrap my head around it. How has this year gone so fast already? How is it May next month? How? Just how?

Ok, now that I am over my little typical ‘hey the year is going so fast can you believe it’ moment, let me introduce the third instalment of the monthly top three series. March was a fun month for makeup as I decided, once again, to completely switch things up. All I have wanted to concentrate on when it comes to doing my makeup is giving myself a glowing and dewy finish without going for ultra heavy makeup. I have been truly shopping my stash and digging out the products that have promised that ultra glow Instagram is full off and giving them all a trial run to see what works best for me and my skin. And boy, have I found some favourites. I.e mainly the two glow products I’m featuring in this month’s roundup. I adore both of these products for glow and honestly, my makeup routine seems just so dull if I don’t include these now.

Also fun fact, I thought it would be really hard to pick three favourites for every month that were not the same three as the first, but, actually, and I know we are only three months in, but these posts are helping me so much to actually have a root around in my collection and find some old loves (or a lot of makeup I haven’t even used or opened *wide-eyed emoji face*). So, I would definitely encourage you guys to do the same! If you find yourself using the same products over and over again and doing your makeup without even thinking about it, in April, maybe try and switch it up! Have a root around in your stash to find some old favourites or new loves, maybe buy that product you’ve been eyeing up or simply try something new! But for now, here are the three makeup products I was obsessed with in March!

When I was on the hunt for glowy products, I realised that I didn’t have a warm-toned highlighter in my collection and I was ultimately finding my cool-toned highlighters didn’t perfectly fit in with the bronze and glowy makeup look I was after. A little Google later and I knew I needed the Barry M Liquid Chrome Drops. This is just so, so beautiful and adds the most stunning, dazzling sheen to your cheekbones, top of your nose and cupid bow and none of the highlighters in my collection even come close to this. It is beautifully golden but still works on my pale skin tone and honestly, I cannot wait for more sun as this catches the light really beautifully. A little really goes a long way with this, I find I don’t need to even use the dropper at all, I simply unscrew and dab it onto the back of my hand using my fingers to dab it onto my skin. I do find I need to work instantly with this as it seems to set down quite quickly but a quick dab with my finger and then some softening with my sponge works really well to make sure there are no harsh lines. It is just beautiful, affordable and even though I was on the hunt for a gold one, I think I may need the other two as well (which are a cool-frost and a rose-gold hue, if you were wondering!).

I have such a love/hate relationship with bronzers and ended up realising there were only two or three unloved bronzers in my collection which was until, on a whim back in very early March, I picked up this £2(!!) bronzer from Makeup Revolution and pretty much fell in love. This is perfectly matte and the isn’t too warm-toned that you look an unnatural shade of orange or too cool-toned that it just isn’t flattering. It is the perfect in-between and I just love it. The texture of the powder itself is pretty darn good for a bronzer that is just £2 – it’s not chalky or too powdery, a quick swipe of a brush and you are truly good to go. It is easily blendable too which is perfect for me as there have definitely been a few days I’ve gone slightly over the top and as if I was in 2009 again (my daily makeup look was a whole tub of Dream Matte Mouse, lots and lots of bronzer, all the eyeliner ever and spider lashes…) so it is pretty easy to correct if you are heavy handed like me! Truly the most perfect bronzer and for only £2, I simply have nothing bad to say about it!

For me, MAC Cosmetics Strobe cream is just such a throwback. I bought my first tub a few years back, took one look at it, applied a whole load all over my face and then thought “…what on earth is this?!”. Fast forward a few years and I have finally mastered the strobe cream. There are just so many ways you can use this product; underneath makeup, mixed in with your base product or as a subtle highlighter on top of makeup. The last month I have been using this under my makeup, applying and blending just on the high points of my face and I was sceptical at first, but this has definitely transformed the way my makeup looks. Even with foundation over the top, there is definitely still more of an overall glow on my face plus I really prefer the overall look of it underneath my foundation and creating the extra layer between my skin and my base. It’s glowy, dewy, creamy and feels so lovely on the skin, adding that highlight and smoothing out skin without looking glittery, shiny or wet. It’s a product I’d recommend everyone try or just have in your collection when you crave a little something extra or like me if you looking for that perfect dewy skin. Basically, I use this every day I apply makeup now and I truly couldn’t imagine my routine without it!
