Feeling Festive at Winter Wonderland Hyde Park

“Walking in a Winter Wonderland”

As promised in my December Goals post, I really wanted to go above and beyond with the Christmas Spirit this year and, if I do say so myself, I am doing pretty alright at that! I have already visited my local German market, been to my local towns Christmas Lights switch on but there was something in particular that has been sitting on my Christmas to-do list for a little while now. Winter Wonderland. Yep, the huge borderline tacky but wonderful Christmas Wonderland slap bang in the middle of Hyde Park featuring a funfair, German markets, an ice-rink, shows and of course, a Bavarian Village.

My first trip to Winter Wonderland certainly introduced me to the magic of it all perfectly. Wrapped up stupidly warm (I’m talking fully kitted out – huge coat, fluffy scarf, gloves AND a scarf), we wandered around all the wonderfully unique different areas that Winter Wonderland offers you, sipping on Mulled Wine and exploring a rather peculiar Magical Ice Kingdom. We played some of the funfair games that never grow old, with hook a bag winning us a teddy bear and catch a penguin winning me a reindeer.  We sat under twinkling fairy lights, eating delicious Mac N Cheese (would thoroughly recommend – it was delicious!) singing along to all the cheesy Christmas songs that were playing. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening and truly put me in the festive spirit.

Winter Wonderland, yes it’s definitely a bit tacky, but well worth a visit. I had SO much fun and everyone was so happy and festive. The food on offer all looked lovely and there was more than enough mulled wine and hot cider to go around. A truly lovely festive day out!

Here is a little peek in the photo album from our trip, please don’t mind the lack of photo’s… my hands were extremely cold! Brrrr.

I’d Recomend

❄️ Bringing along your camera, there are just so many beautiful points to photograph and everything just looks 300x prettier when all the lights turn on after dark!

❄️ Grabbing a hot drink! Whether it is hot chocolate, mulled wine or hot cider, you just cannot go wrong!

❄️ Visiting the Magical Ice Kingdom. Even when it is minus ten degrees, the ice kingdom is pretty impressive with a mixture of insane ice sculptures and snow! Make sure to take advantage of the several photo locations in there and of course, go down the ice slide!

❄️ Going to a fun house! Just pure laughs all around. A simple joy you cannot go wrong with!

❄️ Go for a ride or the viewing tower that offers you beautiful views! We didn’t quite make it onto the viewing tower (though it is on my list for years to come) but you can also get on a ride that offers impressive views over Winter Wonderland. We went on the swings!
