Ready for the #Grid
As an industry, us bloggers are pretty darn obsessed with Instagram. The grid, the filters, the hashtags… we may hate the algorithm (anyone else so over it?) but having the perfect feed is a pretty big goal for a lot of bloggers. And with the perfect Instagram feed comes selfies, no grid is complete without the odd selfie and Rimmel has come to our aid, designing a collection perfect for our #Instaselfies.
With four new products for concealing, contouring made easy and helping your makeup last all day, this collection ticks every box for a good ol’ selfie and I love that the marketing is specifically focused on Instagram, adds an element of fun to the products alongside their super cute packaging.
Even though we are seeing more and more contour and concealer products on the market, Rimmel has managed to make an affordable collection of perfect travel-sized palettes, double-ended contour sticks and even a colour-correcting palette that is teenage and non-massive makeup fan friendly. The likes of contour sticks and different coloured concealers can be pretty alien for those who are not completely obsessed with makeup, but Rimmel has managed to make a collection of such products that are incredibly easy to use to create beautiful looks effortlessly.
Here are my breakdowns and thoughts on all the products in the Rimmel Insta collection!
Kicking things off with the Insta Fix & Go Spray; such an essential in any makeup bag, this combines a priming spray for helping your makeup stick around and also setting it. The two functions combined make a pretty fantastic product that has kept my make-up looking exactly how I applied it first thing in the morning. If you buy only one thing from this collection, make it this spray, I have tried plenty of them and this one is definitely my favourite.
In this collection, there are two palettes with three cream products. One is the Concealer and Contour and the other Conceal and Correct. The shades are lovely, you get a highlighter, concealer and contour, (though those with a particularly light skin tone may find the concealer shades hard to match) but the palettes themselves are small enough to make them perfect for travelling. In the Correcting Palette you get a peach shade for dark circles, green for redness and purple for dullness so all-in-all, a really nice little kit. For me, I find these a little drying on my skin and not entirely comfortable to wear and I just do not reach for them. Such a great idea, but I would just love for these to have more of a creamier texture which may help them not cling to dry patches as easily.
The powder is a really nice addition, considering I already use (and adore) the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and not much has ever replaced it, the Insta Fix and Matte powder has become a daily feature in my makeup routine. There are not massive amounts to say about this apart from it sets my makeup nicely and mattifies the skin without making it one-dimensional. I have actually popped this into my handbag as this is just perfect for top-ups throughout the day, especially in the mini-heatwave!
The real stars of this collection are the Insta Duo Contour sticks, designed to help you create the chiselled look you want, whether that is natural or bold, these sticks are so perfectly designed for even the newest of make-up fans to use.
I just adore these, the contour shade is matte (always best for contouring) and not overly warm, it is very flattering, super creamy and so easy to blend, I just feel as if you cannot go wrong with this!
The highlight shade is beautifully subtle but buildable, perfect for a quick and easy everyday look but can be re-applied ready for something a little heavier. It also does not border on too shimmery, there is just a really lovely glow that is wonderfully natural.
These come in three shades and the light one is perfect for me usually, but with my post-holiday tan, medium has been working brilliantly. Neither are too dark or too warm or too cool, they are just right! Also, have I already mentioned that these are just perfect for travelling?!
What do you think of the Rimmel Insta Collection? Have you tried anything from the range yet?
