When The Splurge is Justified
I’ll admit, I don’t actually own that many high-end products, infact, I only just got my very first Charlotte Tilbury product at Christmas. But, over my years of being unhealthily obsessed with makeup, I’ve certainly found myself falling head over head for some of the more high-end products that I’ve purchased. The products that make the splurge and that feeling of ‘cheese on toast for dinner then this week‘ all worthwhile.
As a student, it’s rare that I trail the beauty hall in Selfridges or Debenhams (it’s the place of dreams I tell you!), gazing at all the beautiful releases and picking what item to splurge on, so when it does happen, naturally, I want the product to be as close to perfection as possible. Packaging, formula, colour pay-off, longevity all have to be at the high standard I paid for. And these are the four products that have all that and more. The four products that made the high-end beauty loving cut.
NARsS and Illamasqua
The Blushers and Bronzers
I’ve made it no secret that I absolutely adore the Illasmasqua blushers. Never have I ever tried a blush that’s so pigmented with a wonderful formula to match before I purchased two of of these. It’s ridiculous how many times I’ve used used yet you wouldn’t think it, not even for a second! There’s no dent, no dip, nothing. No matter how many times I swirly my brush around in these, they still look beautifully brand new. The colour range is also so simply stunning, you’ll find any colour you’re after with that same incredible formula that sits comfortably on your cheeks and won’t budge until your foundation underneath does. Not forgetting to mention, their cream blushes are seriously impressive too!
Rivalling them, the NARS are another brand to really shout about when it comes to blushes and bronzers. Final Cut was the blusher of the year in 2015, nothing ever came close to it. Similar to the Illasmasqua offering, these are insanely pigmented and offer such a brilliant colour pay-off, you won’t want to reach for anything else. The packaging is simple and almost sexy, it’s very NARS and as simple as it is, it still offers you that lovely luxury feel you’d expect from a high-end product. The blushes are fantastic but there’s a reason that Laguna is as popular as it. I cannot recommend NARS enough.
Not only does this feature some of my favourite ever mascara packaging EVER (bold, metallic pink, embossed text all give me major heart eyes), this also features one of my favourite ever mascara formulas. When I’m after a finish which is beautifully lengthening and looks as if I have atleast triple the lashes I actually poses, the Better Than Sex Mascara is what I grab.
Nothing quite transforms my lashes like it and this creates the desired ‘woo, I actually have lashes and they look great’ look just so effortlessly it’s hard to believe I’ve ever used anything else. Seriously impressive with fabulous, typical-Too Faced packaging to match. Ooh, they’ve also got a waterproof version too, if that’s more your thing!
If you’re after a product that truly encompasses everything a high-end product should be, you needn’t look any further than the wonderful Charlotte Tilbury. The second I opened Penelope Pink, I was immediately drawn in and obsessed; beautiful, weighty rose-gold packaging, the most perfect pink lipstick which is squared off (though, I’ve used mine so much it’s starting to lose it’s definition), finished with a beautifully embossed picture of a pair of increadibly detailed lips. They’re truly stunning and it’s no wonder they’ve taken the world by storm.
The formula is rather lovely too, creamy but pigmented with quite an impressive lasting-power considering just how creamy this is. This is the perfect everyday nude with just a hint of pink, it’s elegant, delightfully flattering and just the very perfect all-rounder. I’m positive that so many others will agree, this is a must have in your collection, no matter how many other nude lipsticks you may own!
