The Everyday Go-To
I’m not a morning person. There, I said it. And after three years at university, I’ve come to accept that until I get a full-time job, I’m probably never going to be.
By the time my 7:30am alarm rings and I’ve accepted that I need to get out of bed, I’ve only got a little while before I need to be out of the door and running for my bus so on university days; makeup takes a back seat.
I like to keep it simple whilst still being able to wear the bits and bobs I love the most. I tend to keep the faffy bits (yes, liquid liner, I’m talking about you!) for when I have more time and focus on all the important bits i.e lashings of mascara and highlighter. Standard.
If you would like to see a video tutorial (or just a classic get ready with me) on this look, please do leave a comment below. I love Youtube and how creative I can be with it but I’ve certainly hit a slump with it right now and I’m on the hunt for some inspiration. A university morning routine or something something could be fun? Let me know!
It doesn’t matter what skin problem I’m tackling at any particular time, I always reach for my trusty Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. It’s so lightweight, so soft and so amazing and helping smooth everything out. My foundation rests nicely on top and gone are the days of oily makeup meltdowns. It’s such a classic and such a staple in my makeup bag.

The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream is something that is just always in my makeup bag. It’s perfect for those days where you want something that’s increadibly light, weightless and dewy. This evens everything out nicely and provides a slight nod of colour. My favourite thing though is that is just so easy to work with; use your fingers for super speedy application but you’ll still get the job done quickly with a buffing brush!
The concealer I’m reaching for at the moment is a newbie in my collection. After seeing countless positive reviews on this little tub of spot-covering goodness, I ran to my local Superdrug and picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer. It’s beautifully thick and creamy and covers even my angriest of spots. There’s no patchy finish and it doesn’t go cakey after a few hours. Perhaps my new holy grail? Time will tell!
For my under-eyes, I tend to reach for my absolute faaaaav, the YSL Touche Eclat. It’s just a simple, beautiful product. This covers my dark circles nicely and offers a wonderfully subtle brightening look I’m craving at 8am. It’s a classic for a reason!
On the eyes I’m literally only using my two favourites for the time being. Whatever takes my fancy in the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette i.e the palette I return to again and again for it’s shadow selection and insane pigmentation. And just the Maybeline Lash Sensational mascara. I’ve gone on enough about this little pub tube of mascara goodness so I’m going to keep this simple: it’s lengthening and multiplying all in one. But you already know this is a must have.

The finishing touches
A quick swish on bronzer from the Sleek Contour Kit warms my face up nicely whilst giving it a little bit of definition; but this bad boy is insanely pigmented so make sure you’ve got a light hand! I put that to one side whilst I powder everything down with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder (i.e number one always) before going back in with the Contour Kit finishing off with the highlighter shade. This is my current favourite highlighter, it’s just so pigmented, sparkly annnd it stays put!
Lipstick does tend to change around daily but I can’t help but always come back to the wonderful Makeup Revolution Rose Gold lipstick in Chauffeur. A absolute beauty that’s such a steal for just three pound coins. The colour is perfect for this time of year; it’s dark and statement but not over the top and I guarantee this will suit most skintones. I love it!
I hope you enjoyed this little peak into my current makeup bag. I was switching around for a little while but now I think I’ve found the products to keep in there for everyday. These all work seamlessly together for a simple look that still has those statement features.
Super easy, super quick and super perfect for a tired mind first thing in the morning.
Like I said, somewhat unrelated, but please do let me know what you want to see on my Youtube channel (if you watch it). It’s obviously an extension of this blog so I would love your ideas or any room for improvements. Thank you so much, Abbi x
