As much as I love the bright shades, the corals, the pinks and the peaches, rich chocolate browns, burnt burgundies and coppers are what my heart truly loves.
The temperatures have dropped, the Holidays Are Coming advert has graced our TV screens and I’ve just brought a fleeced line coat… Winter has well and truly captured my heart and I’m SO ready to fully embrace this season.
I love Winter themed makeup. Just hand me all the berry toned lipsticks and you might as well just bring allll the glitter whilst you’re at it. It’s the perfect time of year to go all out and go for a really glamorous look to match all the festive spirit around town.
I’ve rounded up my Winter make-up favourites that I just keep reaching for again and again for the perfect frosty themed look. And guess what, all of these would make perfect Christmas treats, either for your make-up loving bezzie oooooor perfect for your own wishlist this year.
So, without further ado, here’s the seven makeup products perfect for your Winter makeup menu.
All About The Eyes
When it came to digging through my stupidly big palette collection, I just knew the two palettes I
wanted needed to feature in this post. The only two palettes I’ve been reaching for in the past two weeks, alternating depending on whether I want a burgundy or brown look.
Let’s talk about the latest addition to my palette collection; brought when exploring the beautiful streets of Rome; the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette didn’t get much of my love during the Summer months but it’s really been brought into it’s element now we’re entering Winter. Full to the brim with beautiful rich cocoa shades, burnt oranges and even a navy blue; this palette is my best friend in Winter. I love it’s ability to be the perfect subtle day time palette but just a few extra details takes it perfect into a Christmassy evening. It’s beautiful, insanely pigmented, soft and creamy and any eyeshadow’s (and chocolate!) lovers dream.
For those days I want a more rosy look, I grab the MAC Cosmetics Burgundy Times Nine palette which, let’s be honest, could not be more beautiful. The perfect dupe for Kylie’s Burgundy Palette, this offers you endless festive looks provided by beautiful shadows that feature MAC’s incredible quality it’s famous for. And yes, that gold shade really does look as stunning as the picture shows.
I’m loving really big, thick lashes this Winter but I don’t want the hassle of falsies. You already know my ever-glowing love for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, a pretty impressive mascara that’s beautifully thickening and lengthening all in one. This creates a picture perfect result in just one layer; and whilst no mascara is never really going to match the impressive-ness false lashes give off, this comes pretty darn close.
Define and Add Sparkle
After the obsession with Kim K’s flawless contour routine, I’ve really jumped on the wholllle contour bandwagon. Certainly not as extensive as Mrs. West’s routine but not adding that little bit of extra defintion in my make-up routine really does make all the difference and the Seventeen Contour Kit really is the easiest way to go about it. The contour shade is warm but not orange, is pigmented but can be built up if you really need it to be. The highlighting shade is matte (perfect!) and whilst doesn’t make a crazy difference, is perfect for setting under-eye concealer to give off that highlighted look that ties a whole look in together.
If, like me, you cannot get enough of highlighter at the moment, then I have the perfect contender for you. Super easy to buy, always in stock and you can actually go to a store to swatch and buy it, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle is such a picture perfect highlighter. It’s beautifully packed with shimmer but isn’t as over the top as you’d imagine. Such a beautiful staple highlighter that definitely deserves a spot in your make-up bag.
The Finishing Touch
No make-up look is complete without a little bit of lipstick and whilst this time of year, I normally cannot give you enough of berry-toned shades, I’ve been reaching more and more for the classic nudes. For everyday there’s only one that I’ve been reaching for; Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Trendsetter. Such a beautiful warm-toned nude that just slides on the lips but stays for a good few hours. It’s just the perfect option to chuck on quickly to tie together a look that’s simple but statement.
Now, I know that the Kylie Lip Kits get such a mixed reaction in the beauty industry, and I’ve definitely had one that wasn’t great (Kourt K I’m looking at you! Full review: here) but the one I’m writing about today is pretty much well, um, perfect! Dolce K is the most amazing Winter shade; dark, statement, matte. It’s got everything I want from a liquid lipstick. It dries completely matte but doesn’t actually dry out the lips and I can honestly wear this for a good six to seven before it starts to fade away. I’ve heard rumours that Kylie has changed the formula, so if that’s true, I really hope it’s as good as the original because this is pretty fantastic!
So, there we have it: my Winter makeup menu! ❄️ Let me know, what is your one must have Winter makeup product this year?
