Nails that match the weather
I know, I know… most people associate Autumn colours with beautiful golden hues, warm reds and and burnt oranges… but, and as lovely as those colours are, they’re just not me. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good statement red but for someone who wears only three colours (black, white and grey), oranges and yellows just don’t fit into my wardrobe.
So, I’ve gone for the alternative Autumn colours I guess, the perfect shades to take you from the chilly air of Autumn into a frosty, crisp Winter. Perfect for the people who, just like me, have a wardrobe which consists of just two or three colours.
I’m a busy girl; I have university work that always seems to need doing, I run this blog, attempt to run a Youtube channel alongside updating several social media accounts. I also run the social media for a company I freelance for. Even then, I have to find time to eat, clean, wash, socialise, sleep and watch the odd documentary on Netflix. It’s a busy world that’s always on GO and as much as I’d love to sit down and spend a good twenty minutes to half-hour on a picture-perfect manicure, it’s just not realistic. I need polishes that give me that picture-perfect manicure in half the time. The five polishes I’m sharing do this and so much more.
So, without further ado, here are the five nail polishes you need this Autumn.
Nails Inc Alexa Edit ‘Night Sky’
Nails Inc is a real star when it comes to formula. The polish is beautifully glossy; it gives off that professional manicure look without the £30+ price tag that tends to come with it. The polish is perfectly pigmented and opaque; if you’re really rushed off your feet, one coat will do the job wonderfully, but I always go for two for a beautiful plump look that looks gel like and glamourous. As for the colour? Alexa has got this perfect; it’s so deep and rich and I adore it. Perfect for those who want something that isn’t black but has the same statement effect. It fits wonderfully now but this is also Winter’s best friend.
Barry M Gelly High Shine ‘Black Currant’
In every and any nail polish post I’ve written here on SimplyAbbi, I have always praised the Gelly High Shine range. The formula is some of the best on the high-street and I’ve failed to find another polish that is just as purse-friendly and brilliant as these. That being said, Black Currant is such a beautiful colour. The base colour is black with a beautiful plum red dipped in to create such a beautiful shade. It looks black but as soon as it catches the light, you get that beautiful berry hue shining through. The polish dries quickly, has such a beautiful shine; I guarantee someone will ask you where you got your nails done. Oh, did I mention this is just £3.99?
Rimmel ‘Rain Rain Go Away’
For those who shy away from the more bold colours and want something a little bit more neutral but still that perfect Autumn fit; ‘Rain Rain Go Away’ is a magnificent option. A admirable nude that almost has a grey-beige touch making it a flattering option that remains natural and has such a elegance to it. It’s perfect for the professional who likes a much more understated finish, but still want that hint of colour. Give this one coat for a beautifully sheer finish that’s increadibly natural or go for two for something a little more ‘there’. Either will give you a shiny finish that doesn’t chip easily.
Essie ‘Midnight Cami’
This is almost a dupe of the Alexa Edit from Nails Inc but I just had to mention the Essie offering ‘Midnight Cami’. But I promise you, there is visible differences that sets the pair apart. Whilst Alexa Edit is your standard navy colour, Midnight Cami is a lighter option, has much more blue in the shade and is packed with a light offering of shimmer. This catches the light beautifully and offers something a bit more special than just a bog-standard polish. This is a perfect one for those Autumn evening cocktails and drinks and let’s be honest, Essie never fails with their irresistible formula.
Barry M Coconut Infusion ‘Surfboard’
The Coconut Infusion range is a interesting one; the polishes infused with coconut water and oil with the aim to gently hydrate and nourish your nails but with the promise of a gel-look finish. Which is exactly why ‘Surfboard’ features in these picks. The change of season is enough to take it’s toll on our skin and nails. As the days get colder and there’s that noticeable chill in the air, we tend to forget to take care of our tips. These are perfect is you don’t want to miss out on colour but still want to help keep your nails healthy. ‘Surfboard’ is perfect for those who can’t let go of pinks; it has that touch of pastel with a injection of beige keeping it neutral, light but still perfect for Autumn. The finish is spot-on too, two coats and you’re ready to go!
So, it’s time put away the pinks and the pastels from Summer and embrace the tones that flatter the golden Autumn hues we’re seeing around us. After all, there is nothing like a statement mani to make you feel put together, confident and beautiful all-in-one.
