Four Steps For The Perfect Girls Night-In (+ Giveaway!) #AD

The Perfect Autumn Evening

It’s Autumn, it’s chilly outside and I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite up for spending Friday night cueing outside a club in the freezing cold. I regularly get called the grandma in my group of friends… and I’m totally ok with that! Give me a night in with a either a tear-jerker DVD, tasty snacks and fantastic company any day!

Having a girls (or boys!) night in is a great way to catch up and have a good ol’ jolly up, all whilst in the comfort and cosy of your own home. There’s no loud music to shout over, it doesn’t have to be expensive and let’s be honest… who doesn’t want to sit around in onesies or fleece PJ’s when it’s turning a little bit colder outside? This is my idea of a how to spend a perfect Autumn evening! Light some candles, hand-out all the blankets and pop the kettle on… you’ve got the perfect, cosy setting for a wonderful evening.

To celebrate the DVD release of Me Before You (I know, I’m not emotionally ready either), I’m sharing my four steps for the perfect girls night-in. So… grab your phone, message all your girlies and get organising a night you’re all free to have a catch up, watch a movie, eat allllll the snacks and enjoy a perfect girls night! Making time for your friends is important in this world of ‘busy’ and there’s no time like the present; the nights are drawing in, the temperature is dropping and there’s nothing a good natter can’t fix! And there’s a cheeky giveaway at the end of this post to help you kick start your girls night in!

This post is in collaboration with Kleenex, but all thoughts, views and opinions are my own!

01. Grab The Latest DVD Release

It just isn’t a girl’s night unless you have a movie to watch! Grabbing all of your fluffy blankets and hot water bottles… get ready to pass your friends the Kleenex for this one! Of course, I can’t help but recommend Me Before You. The heartwarming tear-jerker is bound to have everyone in the room captivated; laughing at moments, crying at others. I’m no movie critic, but Emilia Clarke is brilliantly bubbly and perfect as Louisa and Sam Claffin perfectly captures the essence of Will that you’ll know if you’ve read the book! And even if you haven’t… it’s well worth a watch.

It’s a film that captures your heart and leaves a mark but has beautifully heartwarming moments too so make sure you’ve already stocked up on the Kleenex for this one, believe me… you’ll need it! The DVD is out now so grab your copy on Amazon, HMV or in your local supermarket!

02. Stock The Snack Cupboard Up

What is a girl’s night in without unlimited snacks? Get stocking up ladies! And what’s fun is that there are so many ways you can do this. Your traditional supermarket dash; grabbing all the fun size bags of milk buttons, strawberry laces and Reindeer Malteasers (yep, they’re already in stores!) ready for the evening. But of course, another fun way is baking. If your friends are the next Mary Berry’s, get everyone to make a batch of their favourite baked goodies (pumpkin spiced cookies, anyone?!) and then, everyone brings them round and you’ve practically got yourself a mini Bake-Off episode in your living room… just perhaps don’t be as harsh as Mr. Paul Hollywood right? Not everyone can get that perfect dough without a soggy bottom!

Or of course, you can go for everyone’s favourite… takeaway pizza! You can’t go wrong and let’s be honest, what good is a good old natter or movie without a delicious pizza slice (or seven)?

03. Have a Pamper Session

We all love a pamper night and a girls night in is the perfect excuse to squeeze in a good ol’ pamper! Get out all your favourite face masks – I’m currently loving the L’Oreal Clay Masks and have fun multi-masking! Face masks not your thing? No worries, you could also do manicures or hand treatments, whatever takes your fancy! Those Kleenex you grabbed for the movie? If you’ve got any left over, you can use them to tidy up any smudged nail varnish or help take off any of the face masks!

Girls nights are also perfect for giving away those unloved products. Have a quick root around in your beauty stash (and wardrobe) and find those items you’re just not using. Baring in my mind their ‘best before’ date, stick them in a nice basket or bag and let your friends rummage through to see if anything takes their fancy! You could even do a swap, get everyone to bring their unwanted beauty items and all swap around!

04. Crack out the Board Games

After having a good ol’ cry at Me Before You, you may want some light relief so cracking out your favourite board games is the perfect answer! Bring out all the old favourites; Monopoly, Scrabble and Cluedo and get everyone involved!

It’s fun, slightly competitive and helps takes everyones mind off of work, stress and the daily grind. Plus, how many times a year do you sit down around a classic board game and just play, have fun and truly enjoy yourself? The perfect way to spend an evening!

I would love to know how you spend your perfect girl’s night in? What tips would you share for the perfect girls night-in?
