Because we all know they’re launching here soon…
Beauty blogger hypes really excite me and I fall weak for them every darn time. New lustful products that have everyone gagging for them, a million blog posts go live, a million Instagram snapshots, swatches galore on Snapchat.. every social media outlet driving you mad with lust.
And Kat Von D Beauty was just no different. I’ve spent months lusting after the world famous contour palette, the lipsticks, the eyeshadows… just everything! I’ve heard so many amazing reviews but I soon gave up upon discovering it’s hard to get in the UK and Rome’s Sephora didn’t have the brand either. Thankfully, Barcelona’s Sephora offering pulled through but, forget travelling around Europe for your fix, it’s is launching in Debenhams NEXT month. Start saving those pennies, you’re going to want to go crazy the second it hits the high street.
Without a doubt, Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and everywhere will be flooded when the brand drops here on UK soil, but, keep an eye on the official Debenhams webpage for the latest news and the option to sign up to the newsletter that will send you the good news as to when it launches.
But, before all that excitement, when I visited Sephora in wonderful Barcelona, I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw the Kat Von D Beauty stand that I practically ran to it ready to swatch. I really wanted to bring home the contour palette, but size and money restraints kept it firmly in the stands, but I did come home with two very special lip products that stole my heart. And space in my makeup bag, yep, I pretty much wear one of these every day.
I’ve been home from Barcelona well over a month now so I think it’s the perfect time to share my thoughts on these little beauties, so, without further ado, are these liquid lipsticks worth they hype and how do they compare in a world filled with a new-found love for liquid lipsticks, because let’s be honest, we’re digging them right now.
Please welcome, Noble and Lolita II.
First up, the lipstick is highly pigmented and just the perfect thickness. The doe-foot is small and as precise as I feel a doe-foot can be, making application easy-enough. Liquid lipsticks have a reputation for being a messy job but you easily work with the liquid to help make the process as easy as possible. They’re wonderfully creamy and take around 40 seconds to a minute to fully dry. The colours are buildable, which isn’t going to be necessary for the more bold and darker colours but for colours such as Noble (right), which are slightly more pale, this is ideal as you can choose to go for a more subtle look or really build that up for the statement look we’re all sporting on Instagram. Thankfully, there isn’t a noticeable scent or taste which I always find can really make or break a lip product. Overall, a brilliant product with more than enough incredible qualities making it immensely promising.
I like these. A lot. I might even go as far to say that these are my favourite liquid lipsticks right now. And that’s saying a lot considering how much I love Kylie Jenner’s offering. As mentioned, the pigmentation is incredible and on average, you’re looking around 6-7 hours wear which is pretty impressive by any means. They’re surprisingly comfortable on the lips and don’t feel awful or flake after a few hours wear which is why these are my current favourite over the Kylie Lip Kit. I also find that these don’t transfer; once they’re on, they’re on to stay. Lastly, I also prefer the packaging over Kylie’s offering, for a start, these have the suction in the tube which Kylie’s don’t, meaning there’s much better product control and I do worry that if I cart Kylie’s around, the glass will smash. All-in-all, they’re strikingly similar, but on a personal level, I’m currently in love with these.
Noble is perhaps a little different to what’s currently on trend but I wanted something lighter, much more suited to an everyday subtle look that wasn’t pink or brown. So, I was more than happy to bring a beautiful peach shade home. It’s light but still manages to remain bold. I will say; this is pale so it’s not going to be a universally flattering shade and sometimes even I feel as if it’s a bit too pale for me but with a bit of bronzer and blusher, it tends to just look like the cute peach it is. For daytime I get away with one coat (which is what the picture is showing) but two coats really takes this from wow to wowza (for lack of a better word…) and it’s this shade I’ve been grabbing for filming and every day, out and about. It’s beautiful, I love it and I’m so glad I swatched this nearly a million times before I decided to take it home.
What I love about Lolita II is the fact I own nothing else like it. I have a good handful of browns and a good fistful of reds but I don’t own anything inbetween. This is such a beautiful terracotta shade that’s warm and flattering; whilst remaining bold and statement. This applies that little bit more pleasantly than Noble, it’s such a bold, pigmented colour that you don’t have to layer or build this up; one layer and you’re very good to go. I can’t wait till Autumn eventually rolls around as let’s be honest, this is going to be my number one. It’s perfect for a bold everyday look and as mentioned, you’re looking at 6 to 7 hours wear which is going to take you comfortably through the full working day. This is such a beautiful colour that you don’t see all too often and personally, you can clearly see why Lolita and Lolita II have such a fanbase. Beautiful colour, beautiful pigmentation and all-round beautiful product.
All in all; are these worth the hype? Do you need to wait online at Debenhams for their launch? Easy; yes. The world and it’s nan is full-on obsessed with liquid lipsticks right now and Kat Von D’s offering really deserve their place in your makeup bag. They aren’t overly expensive and the second they land on UK soil, they’re going to be so much easier to grab than Kylie Jenner’s or Colourpop’s offering. I love these, I’m wearing these every day so far… I just cannot get enough!
