The Embroidery Trend

The Trend That Screams Summer

This whole embroidery trend has been hitting the high street like mad this Summer. Jeans, tops, vests, dresses, belts, bags… you name it, you’ll find beautiful hand-sitched colourful embroidery on it. And you know what? I. Love. It.

It’s glamorous but strikingly casual. It takes the key pieces and transforms them from staple to statement. It’s a wonderful mixture of timeless fashion and vintage and you need it in your wardrobe this season!

This Boohoo Emma embroidered front split maxi dress just screams Summer and holidays and sea and sun to me. Not only is this dress beautifully gorgeous anyway, it’s made of 100% cotton, making it perfect for those hot Summer days where you need that breathing and cooling space. It’s soft, the split adds an air of sexiness and added glamour whilst again, helping to keep you cool.

I wore this in Rome where temperatures were ranging from 27 degrees up to about 32. It was hot, humid and we were doing a lot of walking around in direct sun; this was the perfect outfit. It was cool, flexible, comfortable and kept my easily-burnt legs out of the direct sunlight.

Design wise; this dress hits all the right spots. The waist is ever so slightly clinched in to give an increadibly flattering look, but it isn’t skin tight so again, it’s comfortable and you can eat a big ol’ filling meal without having to worry about any bloating showing off afters. The neck-line is low to show off a tiny little bit of cleavage but not too low that it’s suggestive. The material is thin and from the waist down to the cut-offs, there’s material underneath so you don’t have to run the risk of anyone seeing your underwear. Which is a winner, really!

But, let’s be honest, the main point is that beautiful embroidery. Delicate navy and sky blue stitching in a subtle but eye-catching pattern takes this from a simple, white maxi to something that matches the sea and sun perfectly. It’s increadibly beautiful and at only £20, the price-tag couldn’t be friendlier.
