What’s in my makeup bag: Feb

What's in my makeup bag

Let’s take a look back at the makeup products I’ve picked up again and again this last month, shall we? I actually found it quite fun to make sure I switched nearly everything up. It allowed me to have a proper little root around in my collection and I found some old favourites! Let’s take a look!

See What’s In My Makeup Bag January.

The Foundation…

After a month of wearing NARS Sheer Matte nearly every day, my skin was craving a much lighter base and I knew exactly what I had in mind. The BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Foundation offers you a light, fresh base in a bottle. With added dewiness, an easy application and lost-lasting results, this is truly perfect for every day. Think my skin but better. I loved using this even if I have completely run it dry, looks like a cheeky re-purchase is due! *runs to the BareMinerals counter*

The Concealer…

Switching up concealer was actually quite the tricky task, I just love my Maybelline Age Rewind too much! Whilst having a rummage through my collection, I did find another Maybelline concealer I had purchased a few months back and tossed aside when I didn’t fall in love with it. The Maybelline Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer claims to do… well just that: conceal and highlight. And that’s where I feel this goes wrong, as a concealer, it’s lovely. Creamy, hydrating and covers up even the very worst of your dreaded breakouts, I like it but the whole highlighting thing? Not so much. I picked up the lightest shade and it simply matches my skin, doesn’t add any highlighting qualities at all, sadly. But as mentioned, the concealer is great and offers a little more coverage than the Age Rewind choice.

The Brows…

Oh, how could I have forgotten that somewhere in my collection was the Soap and Glory Archery Brow pencil?! Back in the early days of the whole ‘OH MY GOD LET’S FILL IN OUR EYEBROWS’ trend, this was my best friend. I found the wax application super easy and it left you with natural but defined results and the spoolie was a very welcome addition to my eyebrow life. But as the brow love grew, so did my brow products and this sadly ended up getting tossed aside. This month I’ve been using it again and can’t believe just how much easier and quicker this is compared to usual powder application. I’ve well and truly fallen back in love and I’m speaking for the both of us (that’s my brows and I if you were wondering).

The Shadows…

This month I’ve decided to lay off the eyeshadows to save myself more time in the mornings #lazy. But on those I do want a little pick me up, once again, I’ve been reaching the for Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette. It’s just so easy, all the colours are beautiful and blend together like a dream. I love using the first gold all over the lid and then the lightest shade as a highlight. So simple, so easy and so effortlessly beautiful.

The Mascara…

I’m starting to sound like a broken record now, but I’ve once again fallen back in love with an old favourite. The Maybelline Lash Sensational is pretty famous in the beauty world and there’s a very good reason why. I won’t talk about this too much as last week’s Top Three Mascara’s post covered the all important deets but in short: it’s amazing, it makes me happy and my lashes are looking pretty darn great.

The Blusher(s)…

I was OBSESSED with this Makeup Revolution ‘Hot Spice’ blush palette last year I’m pretty sure I used it daily for about three whole months… Wow. This month, I grabbed it again and I’m pretty obsessed with the beautiful colours (similar, but different enough to justify the whole palette), intense but workable pigmentation and the pretty impressive lasting power. I tend to reach for the lighter and highlighting shades and I just can’t pick a favourite… I’ve tried, I really, really have.. Saying that, I do seem to have a pretty intense love affair with the bottom right shade… always go for a good peach! If you would like to see me bang on about this more, there is actually a full post on this pretty nifty, (travel friendly) palette!

The Powder…

Not going to talk about this too much as this was the same as last month. I’m still obsessed with the Hourglass Powders, I’m still in love with the flawless look they give my skin and every day, without fail, I pick this up. Feel free to have a read of my full review on the Hourglass Lighting Edit!

The Lips…

Lip colour is a difficult one as I tend to change this up day to day but I thought I’d show you my most used colours this month. As I’m sure you can judge by the blush palette, I’m clearly ready for Spring (I really am) and I am loving all kinds of peach! NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bolero is all kinds of perfect. The colour is stunning and the pencil makes it so easy to apply that I just bring this everywhere with me. My only issue? The lasting power and finishing isn’t quite up to the NARS standard I’d expect, this transfers pretty quickly and seems to really show up the dry patches on my lips. Which is such a shame, as the colour is perfect. For lipgloss? It always seems to be a Tanya Burr Cosmetics offering, this month being Chic, your perfect, every day, pale pink you can team with a lipstick or wear on it’s own. It’s great either way.
