5:45am. The all familiar sound of the alarm goes off. I pull myself out of bed, force myself to eat breakfast, attempt to apply makeup and some form of suitable clothing and I drive myself to the train station for 7:24am train. I get into London for 9am, work all day and then get the 5:45pm train back home. I arrive home at around 7:15pm, eat dinner, wash and then crash.
Placement has been intense, tiring, exciting and ultimately, a completely valuable experience I won’t forget anytime soon. Working in PR has taught me so much about this crazy, non-stop industry and working in London itself has been exciting, fast paced and at times, never ending.
On reflection, I think that maybe, just maybe, sitting in a office all day just isn’t for me. I need to move, I need to be outside and I need to see different scenery. Rolling out of bed at 5:45am and crawling back into it at 10pm was hard enough, but what was harder was only seeing the outside world during my commute. But all in all, I guess that’s the real world isn’t it? And I’m sure everything changes in Summer. But, all in all, the girls I worked with were so lovely and so helpful. The office itself was relaxed and fun. And PR is a brilliant mix of creative and general admin work. And I really enjoyed myself. And that’s all that matters.
I’m super excited to head back to University next week, new modules, new timetables and all! I’m looking forward to catching up with friends, having time to nap and not having to get the train. I’m really determined to really do well this term as well, I have the tendency to do the bare minimal and run myself so tight to the deadline which just isn’t helping anyone and leaves me in a bit of a mess. This term I’m going to try and use my time more efficiently, plan ahead and actually be productive. Being on placement has made me realise how much I need to appreciate and live every minute to the full at university!
I just wanted to do a little post on why my presence online has been practically non-existent this past month with no videos and blog posts here and there. From next week, everything is going back to normal with posts going live Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8am and a new video every Sunday at 11am! See you then!
