When I saw this little gem in Topshop, I couldn’t resist and just had to pick it up! While I’m not usually a fan of duo’s; I much prefer to simply apply my own bronzer and blusher but this duo looked just too pretty to pass.
This is the Topshop cheek duo, ‘Break of Day’ which has a bronzer one side and a blusher the other. It’s a nice almost ‘Barbie’ looking but light pink and the bronzer is a little darker than Hula (by Benefit) if I had to compare. Both have tiny bits of shimmer in them, though the bronzer seems to have a lot more, which is a shame as I prefer my bronzers to be matte. In the pan, both of the colours look quite scary, I quite like a light colour which neither of these are not on first looks. Though, when swatched, both of the colours come out incredibly light and much more a light pink and light brown than the how they look in the pan. The pigmentation isn’t fantastic on this at all, though, for me, this somewhat is a positive as I prefer the ‘less is more’ look when it comes to this. You can see the pigmentation in the swatch above, you can’t really see the duo at all, just a very light colour.
I also noticed that the lasting power wasn’t very good either, this only lasted for a few hours and after that I was just left with little bits of shimmer over my cheeks, I find with over blushes (specifically my ones from ‘Look Beauty’ and ‘Revlon’ to name a few) last a lot longer. I’ve never tried any other Topshop blushes before, only there highlighter, so I can’t comment on whether the lasting power is like this for other blushes in the range.
Despite this, the colours are nice and they look pretty on the cheek, it’s quite handy for a lazy day when you just want a quick dash of colour of your cheeks or when you’re tanned and just want a tiny bit of bronzer and not a lot.
I’m not completely in love with this and in fact, it’s not a blusher I ever go to pick, I’ve only been wearing it recently just because I found it at the bottom of my make-up box and decided to give it some TLC, for me, this was personally a waste of money. It’s a nice product, the packaging is amazing as always from Topshop but the product just doesn’t stand out for me. Still, I adore Topshop make-up and this is the only product (so far!) I’ve not been 100% satisfied with, this one just wasn’t for me sadly!
Have you tried this? What did you think?
